The Electronic Recycling Association and MLA Lana Popham team up to donate Technology to Rosalie’s Village in Saanich this week.

Saanich, British Columbia – June 3rd, 2019 – The Electronic Recycling Association (ERA) is excited to announce that they will be donating with the support of MLA Lana Popham to a Victoria project known as Rosalie’s Village. They will receive a large donation of 27 computers, which will go to households in need of technology.

The Society of Saint Vincent de Paul (SSVP) has been an essential part of aiding the development of the project and in addition to Rosalie’s Village, they have a community inclusion program for 50 individuals with intellectual disabilities, seniors geared to income housing and administrative offices on the West Saanich site which will all benefit from the donation.

Margaret Forbes, Director of Support Services for SSVP said, “We are excited about the arrival of the computers and I know that families will put them to good use for school homework, employment searches and training programs.”

“It’s always a joy having respected members of the community work beside us to donate throughout Canada. This time we get to work with MLA Lana Popham and we are just delighted she agreed to team up with us for this initiative,” said Bojan Paduh, Founder and President of the ERA.

Located at 4349 West Saanich Road in Victoria, Rosalie’s Village was designed and built to Build Green Gold Standards and comprised of 42 self-contained units of affordable housing. The development was built to house single mothers and children, along with older women who have not qualified for senior housing. The Village includes a daycare for residents as well as the larger community, office space and a commercial kitchen.

“By reducing the environmental impact of electronic waste and supporting local organizations, the Electronic Recycling Association provides a valuable service to our community,” said Lana Popham, MLA for Saanich South. “The donation of 27 computers will help Rosalie’s Village develop the technology and digital skills they need to succeed and thrive. I’m excited to attend this week’s event!”
