Four Directions Financial Receive 12 Laptops

Two weeks ago we had the pleasure of visiting Four Directions Financial in Edmonton and donating 12 laptops to help their mission. They are an ATB agency that ensures Edmontonians who are homeless or living in poverty can open—often for the first time—a bank account with a mainstream financial institution. They offer the same products and services—like cashing cheques and saving money in a safe and secure place—found in any ATB location.

The agency was developed in partnership with Boyle Street Community Services through extensive consultations with social agencies and their clients. Every aspect of Four Directions Financial—from the name to the services offered to the paint colours—was guided by clients. It’s the first financial service provider of its kind in Alberta. Four Directions Financial is open to everyone. You do not have to be a Boyle Street Community Services client to bank here.

These laptops will help with customer service training and computer literacy. It will be used within the classroom with the availability of using the devices in a mobile environment. This will be the first time the program will have laptops designated to solely one person. We were able to video interview Eric Bishop, Employment Services Manager and discuss the impact these devices will have on their organization.
