ERA makes regular computer donations to PHS, and we recently received an update on a recent donation recipient:
“This is Paul* – he is 67 years old and currently on disability, but has been a mover most of his life – driving moving trucks from coast to coast to coast — third coast being the North West Territories. He hopes to learn to use the Internet in his retirement so he can show friends pictures and maps of the many places he visited. Paul has enjoyed a colourful life and he is a survivor. Thank you ERA!”
We were happy to hear the story of another donation recipient through Portland Hotel Society (PHS)! We hope the laptop will help Paul reconnect with family and friends and improve his quality of life.
PHS Community Services Society is a non-profit organization based in Vancouver. Their goal is to provide housing, service and advocacy to those poorly served in Vancouver’s DTES community and beyond. Since its inception, the PHS has made an effort and tried to be a community leader in pioneering and delivering service innovations that are effective, real and challenge existing narratives that keep people excluded from decent housing, quality health care and other services while being left to suffer on the street.
