ERA Donates Printers and Projectors to Waverley Elementary

Waverley Elementary School is located on the traditional, unceded territory of the Coast Salish peoples, including the territories of the Musqueam, Squamish, and Selilwitulh (TsleilWaututh) Nations.  They enroll approximately 420 students and while most students at their school note ‘English’ as their first language, many also speak a heritage language at home. It is their mission to provide a safe, inclusive environment where they strive to develop a kind, caring citizens with a passion for learning and a vision for their future.

This East Vancouver school has financial needs and requested donated tech from ERA to help assist their stretched budget and we are pleased to be able to provide them with 2 printers and 2 projectors. The principal of Waverley Elementary, Laura Rhead, stated “We are grateful for organizations like yours! Thank you for any support you can offer.”

Waverley staff highly value collaboration and teamwork, working with the resource team and other grade group teachers closely. They strive to support students with social-emotional needs through providing curriculum for social thinking, emotional regulation, and the Core Competencies. They support a large number of students with special needs and also host a district primary ExSEL program focused on social-emotional learning.  Waverley staff follows the two‐term model of ongoing, formative assessment and communication of/for student learning, where students reflect and share their learning with their families in an ongoing format.

They embrace the notion that “Educating the mind without educating the heart, is no education at all.” (Aristotle) and will continue to seek parent/guardian support in addition to that of other staff. In each monthly staff committee meeting, they discuss the line item “it takes a village.” Here at the ERA, we very much relate to this sentiment. Without the support of businesses and individuals who seek out our services to assist them in their IT asset disposal process, we would not be able to provide deserving organizations with donated equipment to impact the development and futures of our younger generations.

Waverley Elementary is requesting donations of over 40 refurbished desktop computers, laptops, and mobile devices. Technology is used as a tool for teaching and learning in all of their classrooms and their staff has been involved in innovative projects that showcase the many ways that technology is integrated.  If you have IT equipment you no longer use and would like to contribute to this school’s wish list, contact us to provide you with our pickup and data security service.

We also offer fundraising opportunities for schools like this to help us collect the equipment they need or to provide them a monetary rebate on the items they collect so that they can fund a project or initiative they may have. To learn more about our Moolah for Macros program, email info@era.ca.
