Last week, ERA was pleased to donate 6 computers, 5 laptops and 3 printers to the MADA Community Center in Montreal. They are the largest kosher soup kitchen and food bank in Quebec is strategically located in the heart of Montreal’s community. They provide the community with many social and crisis services and basic necessities to those in need. Since 1993 the MADA Community Center has been operating as a non-profit charitable organization, MADA is Montreal’s central address for fighting poverty in the community and often serves as a safe haven for those in need. All of MADA’s services are free of charge. They rely solely on public support to maintain their services.
These donated devices will be used by their office staff who are currently using older computers which are significantly slower and out of date. Having access to these new devices will create a smoother work week for the staff. ERA also provided three refurbished printers which will replace their old ones that continue to break regularly. The computers will also allow their clients who do not own a device to stop by the MADA Community Center and order their monthly food baskets online without waiting.
Speaking with Stuart Miller, CPA, CA, Controller at the MADA Community Center he explains, “In a charity organization, such as MADA, every dollar counts. The money that we will save by not having to purchase new computers and printers can be used directly for our programs to benefit our clients. Thank you to the ERA for your great work.”
On the day of the donation, we were thrilled to partner with MNA David Birnbaum. He added, “This is a wonderful initiative by the Electronic Recycling Association to give back to the community, allow MADA’S clientele to benefit from access to technology and that protects the environment at the same time. We need to stay connected and in touch with the world we live in, and this donation will allow the people who frequent the MADA Community Center to do so.’’
