In 2018, we donated to over 200 organizations Canada wide. Many of the charitable organizations we donated to were a mixture of indigenous communities, care facilities, schools, charitable organizations and much more. This would not have been made possible without the help of our generous donors. Here is a recap of 2018 and what we have achieved over the last year.
Top Donations of 2018
· Over 100 Phones Help Those with Vision Loss Thrive
On Friday the 21st of September 2018, we were invited to the CNIB foundations Phone It Forward campaign launch in Calgary. This turned out to be a fantastic launch where we donated over 100 phones to kick off this awesome partnership. This campaign gives Canadians a unique opportunity to donate their old phones, receive a tax receipt, and empower people who are blind in the process. · Shell Canada Connects ERA with Easter Seals
On Wednesday September 19th, ERA and Shell Canada teamed up once again to donate 19 laptops, 3 desktops, and 36 monitors to Easter Seals in Alberta. Easter Seals provide services that foster inclusion, independence and recreation for individuals with disabilities and medical conditions. They are a registered charity that has served Albertan’s since 1951. Albertans connect with them for direct services, programs, advocacy and public education. Read more here.
· Up to 50 refurbished laptops to be donated to Alberta’s Promise Partners
The Electronic Recycling Association (ERA) will be donating up to 50 refurbished laptops to various Alberta’s Promise Partners. The donation will be held in Calgary on October 15th. October 15th– 21st is Waste Reduction Week and the theme for the 15th is the Circular Economy, which fits perfectly with ERA’s donation! Read more here.
· Giving Printers for Giving Tuesday a New Lease on Life
The Electronic Recycling Association (ERA) is pleased to announce their partnership with PrinterWorks West. PrinterWorks West is a Calgary and Edmonton based printing service offering top service, sales and solution certifications. PrinterWorks West is the leader in Managed Print Services (MPS) in Alberta, offering workflow and hardware solutions from manufacturers like Canon and HP. This partnership is one of many that ERA has developed over 2018 and will be an extremely promising partnership for years to come, helping organizations with top of the line printers. Read more here.
· Proud Canadian Non-profit donates $180,000 Worth of Technology Canada wide
The Electronic Recycling Association (ERA) announces a donation of over 500 laptops, computers, printers and cell phones to individuals in need this GivingTuesday. Every year this non-profit aims to donate more equipment than the last. This year they have succeeded with their donations totalling to 547 devices, a 50% increase from 2017. GivingTuesday is a global movement for giving and volunteering, taking place each year after Black Friday. ERA is proud to be part of this initiative and aims to connect businesses and organizations within the community through their donation activities. Read more here.

· Educating the future of tomorrow at MacNeill’s Secondary School
The Electronic Recycling Association (ERA) had the pleasure of visiting MacNeill Secondary school to educate their students on ERA and the importance of reusing electronics. Our directors in Vancouver travelled out to the school to present in front of a class of eager students. We brought our Parts to PC program mobile and had one of our reps open a computer, explain each function and how they contribute to the device operating. Read more here.
· Day of Donations Campaign
Are you a company looking to give back within your community? Do you have unwanted or used equipment you no longer need or want? Starting the month of July ERA will be implementing our Day of Donations campaign. This means that once a month we will be donating to several organizations from our waiting list on one particular day in one city on a monthly basis! Read more here.
· Donate your smartphone. Change the life of someone who’s blind.
ERA is really excited to share an amazing new program from the CNIB Foundation called Phone It Forward. It encourages individuals and organizations to donate their old smartphone to help people with sight loss who need them and get a tax receipt for the value of their phone. Read more here.
· Parts to PC Goes Mobile
ERA has decided to make this workshop even more accessible for the children of Alberta. You may ask, how does this work? Well, it’s simple! We will come to your location with the appropriate equipment in order to hold this event. Read more here.
· Strathmore Municipal Library Holds a Parts to PC Workshop
ERA is teaming up with the Strathmore Municipal Library to educate the children of Strathmore on how to assemble and dismantle the hardware of a computer and laptop. If your child is interested in IT, this workshop is a great way to develop their computer skills. This is a free workshop that ERA holds once a month throughout the year to empower the future of tomorrow. Read more here.

· MLA David Shepherd Helps Donate Refurbished Electronics
The Electronic Recycling Association (ERA), along with Edmonton Centre’s MLA David Shepherd, will be presenting iHuman and E4C with donated IT equipment to support their programs. Read more here.
· Working with MLA Kathleen Ganley to Donate 28 Laptops
ERA donates them to organizations in need, just like we did today to The Mustard Seed and to Transitions to Communities. We had the profound pleasure of presenting these devices with the help of MLA Kathleen Ganley whose riding is Calgary-Buffalo area. Read more here.
· Lethbridge MLA Donates Refurbished Devices
We were delighted to team up with MLA Shannon Phillips to donate this laptop and printer to the Lethbridge Girls Rock Camp. This will be used to assist their coordinators, interns and volunteers with day to day tasks throughout the season. Read more here.
· ERA Working with MLA’s to give back to the Airdrie Community
ERA teamed up with MLA Angela Pitt in Airdrie to donate 3 computers, 9 laptops, 8 monitors and 2 projectors to Kings Court Church. These devices will be used for the church and its communities benefit. We met up with Pastor Biyi and spoke with him about this donation and its impact. Read more here.
· ERA taking Edmonton by storm with the help of MLA Marlin Schmidt
The Electronic Recycling Association (ERA) is excited to announce they will be holding their monthly program, Day of Donations, in Edmonton. This will be the third month this program has been in place. This time there will be a donation to the Al Mustafa Academy. MLA Marlin Schmidt will be accompanying ERA on their outing to this school to donate 30 laptops. Read more here.
· Spenser’s Heart Foundation Receives two Computers
MPP Jones partnered with ERA to hand deliver this donation. She stated, “I was very pleased to learn that a non-profit organization in Dufferin is the recipient of this generous donation. What a wonderful way to give computers a second purpose. I am certain that Spenser’s Heart will put their donated computers to good use.” Read more here.

· ERA and Hi Tech Recyclers Proud Partners for over Five Years
ERA work with Alberta Recycling (ARMA) certified recycler, Hi Tech Recyclers creating a more sustainable environment. Both parties have one goal and that goal is to ensure that electronic waste is properly taken care of through processes put in place by them directly. Read more here.
· ERA and Greentec, partners for over two years to create a more sustainable environment
The Electronic Recycling Association (ERA) continues to work with an e-waste recycling solutions company to reduce unnecessary electronic waste in Ontario. Since 2016, ERA has prevented toxic materials from entering the environment by recycling them through Greentec, an industry leader in safe and responsible e-waste recycling, ensuring they are properly processed. · ERA opens offices in the US in 2019
The Electronic Recycling Association (ERA) is proud to announce a major milestone for January 2019, when they will be branching out to the US market under the name Electronic Reusing Association. ERA will be located in Seattle and San Jose with opportunities to expand even further over the next few years. Currently, this Non-Profit Organization has operated throughout the last 14 years in Canada (Vancouver, Edmonton, Calgary, Saskatoon, Montreal, Winnipeg and Toronto) so it is no shock that they are expanding this incredible service to the US. · Advisory Board Nomination Application for 2019
We are looking for candidates who are passionate about the non-profit, environmental and/or technology sectors and who are looking for ways to impact positive change. Working as a committee, the Advisory Board provides recommendations to further ERA’s primary goal of increasing public uptake of reuse and recycling practices for electronic equipment. In light of the Electronic Recycling Association’s (ERA) grand opening, they are appealing to businesses who are looking to dispose of their unwanted electronics. At this time the ERA has a limited amount of electronics to donate to charitable organizations within Montreal.
