ELECTRONIC RECYCLING ASSOCIATION: FREE HARD DRIVE SHREDDING FOR FRAUD PREVENTION MONTH

SECURE HARD DRIVE SHREDDING OFFERED AT CROSSIRON MILLS FRAUD PREVENTION MONTH EVENT

The Electronic Recycling Association, Calgary Police Service and partner agencies are heading to the mall to educate citizens about how to recognize, report and avoid falling victim to fraud

Calgary, AB (March 10, 2016) – The Electronic Recycling Association (ERA) has partnered with Calgary Police Service (CPS) for a fraud prevention month hard drive shredding and e-waste collection for mall patrons and the general public. Visitors will learn the answers to all of their fraud-related questions, and safely dispose of their old electronics. Partners will have items on display to show the public what to be aware of, including evidence that has been seized in fraud investigations, examples of recent scams, an interactive fraud and organized retail crime quiz board and the Better Business Bureau’s scam tracker.

“Fraud prevention month is intended to facilitate conversations around new scams and how individuals can reduce their risk of falling victim to them,” says Bojan Paduh, president and founder of ERA. “Our goal is to help CPS ensure the public has access to tools and information to protect themselves, and by offering free and secure hard drive shredding we’re happy to make a tangible contribution.”

ERA will be bringing a portable hard drive shredder to allow the public to shred their personal devices, free of charge. Devices that the public can bring include phones, gaming consoles, music players, stereo equipment, computers, handheld devices, printers and other electronic equipment that may contain personal data.

Media representatives are invited to attend and cover this community event.
