We were pleased to donate 2 laptops, a monitor and a printer to the Montreal non-profit organization, LOVE: Leave Out Violence. This organization was founded by Mrs. Twinkle Rudberg in 1993. Following her husband’s murder by a 14 year old boy, Twinkle became convinced that the young perpetrator was himself a victim of violence. Thus, LOVE was born. The organization has made a significant impact on youth aged 13 to 19 by helping them end the cycles of violence in their lives and by training them to become leaders in violence-prevention within their communities.
Their mission is to reduce violence in the lives of youth and in our communities by building a team of youth who communicate a message of non-violence.
LOVE provides media-arts training, social and emotional learning, and leadership development opportunities to youth in safe settings, giving them the voices they deserve. Their participants emerge from LOVE’s programs with greater resilience, skills, and support to overcome challenges, and develop into strong, independent leaders ready to engage more fully in a world around them.
This donation will be used by two newly recruited staff members this summer. Having two extra staff members will help expand their reach to a higher number of violence-affected youth in Greater Montreal. The staff members will be about to prepare workshops and sessions for the young people.
